NFRC appoints Head of Technical Services

Kevin Taylor, a well-known figure to NFRC members as the technical officer for Slating and Tiling, has recently been promoted to head up all NFRC's technical services including flat roofing, sheeting and cladding and health and safety. Kevin has vast experience throughout the industry and a respected authority within organisations such as BSI and NHBC. He has served NFRC for over ten years and prior to this, had a long career in the industry from apprentice through to contracts manager, college lecturer and independent consultant.

Flowcrete Group appoints Craig Brookes as President

Flowcrete Group Ltd has appointed Craig Brookes, previously the Flowcrete Group Vice-President and International Managing Director, to spearhead global operations as its new President.

The global leader in polymer flooring technology promoted Mr Brookes to the role after former President, Mark Greaves, stepped up as President of The Euclid Group, the construction chemicals group within the multi-national company, RPM International Inc.

Lavendon Group appoint corporate development director

Lavendon Group today announced the appointment of Wayne Smith to the position of Corporate Development Director.

Smith joins Lavendon from Aggreko plc, a leading global supplier of temporary power generation solutions, where he undertook an Executive role as Director of Business Development. He joined Aggreko in 2013 from LaFarge where he held a number of senior roles across China, South East Asia and North America.

Metrotile appoints David Padmore to cover the north of England

Lightweight steel roofing company Metrotile UK has announced the appointment of David Padmore as regional manager for the North of England.

Mr Padmore, who has worked in the roofing industry for the past 32 years, will be responsible for developing business opportunities in an area north of Stoke and the Humber and north to the border with Scotland.

New Chair announced for RICS North West Regional Board

Matthew Fedigan, Director at building consultancy, Domec Ltd in Liverpool has been appointed Chairman of the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) North West Regional Board.

Simon Vivian becomes new MPA Chairman

Simon Vivian, Chief Executive of Breedon Aggregates Limited, the UK’s largest independent aggregates business, has been appointed MPA Chairman for the next two years. He will succeed Bill Brett, Brett Group, from 1 September, and of the Mineral Products Association’s (MPA) five Chairmen to date, he is the third to serve from an independent company.

Dalrod appoints Bryan Lord as Group Business Develpment Manager

DALROD’s strategic expansion plans have, so far this year, seen the company move into new state-of-the art 1200 square metres Head Office space in July, where three experienced managers have joined to support and strengthen the team going into the future. The nationwide drainage and civils group has recently been joined by Jon Kynaston as General Manager and Stevie Johnson, Contracts Manager for the new Civil and Construction Division. September 1 sees Bryan Lord join as Group Business Development Manager.

Hope launch search for new recruits to join their Apprenticeship Academy

Britain’s leading independent construction materials company, Hope Construction Materials, is once again on the lookout for top young talent to join its £300 million business in Derbyshire, Yorkshire and the North East.

The firm’s industry leading Apprenticeship Academy has reopened for its second year, with Hope searching for three new apprentices at its quarries at Holme Hall near Rotherham, Coxhoe in County Durham and its cement works in the Hope Valley.

Terry swaps the battlefield for the building site

An injured war hero from Colchester has swapped camouflage for shirt and tie, as leading house builder Persimmon Homes continues its recruitment drive to bring hundreds of ex-military personnel into the business.

Ex-Para Terry Byrne, 30, started at Persimmon Homes Essex recently as assistant site manager. He is currently working at the builder’s Tudor Park development in Saffron Walden.

New Chairman announced for leading contractor group

BALI-NCF, a collaboration between the British Association of Landscape Industries and the National Contractors Forum, has announced that Phil Jones, Managing Director of ISS Facilities Services – Landscaping, has been elected as the Forum’s chairman. He will assume the role with immediate effect.
