From 2016, all government building and infrastructure projects in the UK will require level 2 BIM compliance. BSI, the business standards company today launches a verification scheme for PAS 1192-2 Information management for the capital/delivery phase of construction projects. BAM Construct UK Ltd and Skanska UK are the first two companies to be independently assessed by BSI and achieve verification.

Industry leaders unite with ICE to fund exhibition and learning centre

Seven leading contractors and consultants have joined forces with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to help fund a new state-of-the-art engineering exhibition and learning centre to help inspire the next generation of engineers and demonstrate the diverse career opportunities available to young people.
The exhibition and learning centre, which will open in 2016 at ICE’s London headquarters, forms part of ICE’s ‘Shaping the World’ appeal – an international campaign which brings together the greatest civil engineering minds across the globe to help alleviate the effects of major future challenges. The Shaping the World appeal is funding other projects including a resilience lecture series and a report to be presented to the Hong Kong government exploring low carbon living for a high density environment beyond 2030. Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is Patron of the appeal.

NASC issues updated Technical Guidance and Safety Guidance notes

The NASC has released a raft of seven revised and updated Technical Guidance (TG) and Safety Guidance (SG).
These revisions have come as part of the NASC’s on-going commitment to refresh published technical and safety guidance on a five year cycle.
NASC members have received copies of seven guidance notes in the post during November 2015 (marked for the attention of the Managing Director) and these will also be available to full members via download, free of charge, from the members area of the NASC website.
