Mick George to conduct earthworks for Birmingham student accommodation

A prime site in Birmingham’s Southside district has been secured for a major new student development, which will see a 399 room, purpose-built accommodation complex erected at approximately £38m GDV.

The location on the corner of Upper Dean Street and Pershore Street, located close to the popular Bullring Shopping Centre and Wholesale Markets has been granted full planning consent for a mixed-use student bedroom and communal facilities, as well as ground floor retail units.

First CISRS CPD scaffolding courses delivered internationally

Safety & Access in conjunction with their partners Special Technical Services (STS) in Oman have successfully delivered the first ever overseas scaffolding CPD courses.

The CISRS Overseas Scheme (OSTS) has developed the two day course to mirror the UK requirements and the first courses were delivered this week by Safety & Access Senior Instructor Rob Nicholls at the accredited scaffolding training centre in Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman.

Innovative new tool supports engagement in health and safety training

Puzzle manufacturer Ethentic specialise in the design and manufacture of health and safety knowledge checking puzzles for use as teaching aids.

The puzzles are designed to offer training providers and employers a wider range of options for knowledge checking across many different subject areas.  In addition, the puzzles help to introduce an element of fun and competition into the learning environment, essential ingredients for an effective lesson.

Mick George appointed for demolition works at Acton Gardens

Progress on the award-winning Acton Gardens development in West London is steaming ahead, with Mick George Demolition Ltd appointed on behalf of Countryside Properties and L&Q to complete the forthcoming demolition works of Charles Hocking House as part of Phase 6.2. 

This sequence of work will focus on community facilities designed to support a reinvigorated neighbourhood. A new nursery, doctor’s surgery, retail space and incubator office locations are all set to be created, anticipated for completion by Summer 2020.

Safety & Access announce successful transition to latest BS EN standard

Safety & Access are delighted to announce their successful transition from ISO9001:2008 to the latest standard BS EN ISO9001:2015. A thorough audit on all systems and procedure has taken place this week and our independent auditors NQA have given the business a clean bill of health with a few valuable suggestions to take the process forward.
