Gate safety campaigners welcome HSE safety advice following gate accident

As Gate Safety Week approaches, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has renewed its call for suppliers and installers of powered gates to follow vital safety guidance.

The HSE made the comment after a company pleaded guilty to breaching safety regulations at a court case in Dudley. The court heard how an eight-year-old boy was injured when his head became trapped by an entrance gate at a primary school.

New board to drive success of Considerate Constructors Scheme

The Considerate Constructors Scheme has appointed Mike Petter as its new Chairman with Angus Kennedy and Albert Ree joining the Board.

Mike Petter, who began his career at Geoffrey Osborne Ltd and was Managing Director for consultancy firm Five Dimensional Management Ltd, became a Scheme Director in July 2012 and Vice Chairman in 2013.

A proactive approach to developing links with university students on construction-related courses is helping growing property solutions company The GB Group to develop a steady stream of new recruits and greater awareness of careers opportunities in the business for the industry's future talent.

This year, GB has announced a new partnership with the School of Construction Management and Engineering at the University of Reading in a three year commitment to Constructionarium, a bespoke learning facility created and developed for built environment students to gain practical site experience.

Skytec Aria - new test confirms glove's exceptional durability

The Aria glove, from the Globus Skytec range, has achieved top marks for EU standard EN 388:2003, providing added reassurance to customers of their protection from mechanical risk. The glove, which has a NFTª nitrile foam palm, recently achieved 25,000 cycles in the EN 388 abrasion resistance test.

The test, by an independent research and testing organisation, was carried out to quantify wearer claims that the gloves simply lasted and lastedÉ.far beyond anything they'd ever used before.

Sponsoring an award for budding teenage entrepreneurs at the Young Enterprise North West Company Programme Finals Evening 2014, Stoke-based supply chain partner, fwb also sent along two members of its team to help select the winners of the regional round of this national competition. 

The competition is organised by Young Enterprise, the United Kingdom’s largest business and enterprise education charity.
