Winners of the eighth National Construction Awards revealed

The best of the construction industry was celebrated at the eighth Constructing Excellence National Awards in London last Friday (November 14). 

The Awards, attended by over 450 construction professionals, reward those organisations, and individuals, setting the highest standard of best practice and collaboration in the construction industry.

NASC 2014 Annual General Meeting at Midland Hotel

The NASC’s well-attended Annual General Meeting took place at the iconic Midland Hotel in Manchester city centre on Friday 21st November.

In a packed agenda, NASC MD Robin James reported on the recent publication of the new look NASC 2015 Yearbook, the sales success of the organisation’s “good practice guide for tube and fitting,”TG20:13, the publication of new and revised Safety and Technical guidance, Qualifying the Workforce Funding and the recent promotional work of the organisation at 2014 events, such as the Safety & Health Expo at London’s ExCeL and Health & Safety North in Bolton.

NASC 2014 Apprentice of the Year announced

The NASC announced the results of its inaugural Apprentice of the Year Award at its Annual General Meeting in Manchester on Friday 21st November.

The new NASC Apprentice of the Year scheme – sponsored by both the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) – is aimed at individuals who are directly employed by an NASC Member company and are either part way through a formal scaffolding apprenticeship with an approved CISRS provider, or alternatively have successfully completed the apprenticeship programme in 2014.

ASSA ABLOY tests high efficiency thermal door

Security Doors, a division of ASSA ABLOY UK, the global leader in opening solutions, has tested a new high-efficiency thermal door offering excellent insulation. 

The thermal door has achieved a U-Value of 1.6W/m²K in both single and double door configurations, exceeding thermal energy efficiency standards referred to in Part L Building Regulations guidelines, which require external pedestrian doors to achieve a U-Value under 2.2W/m²K.

LeaseVan announce search for the nation's best builders brew

Leading van leasing and contract hire company, LeaseVan, has announced its search for the Nation’s Best Builders Brew. When you think of the proud British Builder, there are two things that spring to mind as their two greatest tools; the builders van and the builders brew. Where their vans are refuelled at the petrol pumps, the nation’s builders are refuelled by the humble kettle - and LeaseVan want to know which brew is best for the nation’s builders. 

They want builders to get in touch to tell them exactly which brew they think is best, whatever it might be, They want to know what it is about their favourite brew that makes it the Nation’s Best Builders Brew.
