Blood Cancer UK, Walking with Giants Foundation, Young Persons Advisory Service (YPAS) and The Florrie charity have all benefited from a share of over £2,500 raised by the Ground Source Heat Pump Associations (GSHPA) members at their Conference and Charity Dinner held at the Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa, Gargrave, North Yorkshire last month.

Secured by Design visits Strongdor

Industry-leading steel door manufacturer Strongdor Ltd opened up their factory to Crime Prevention Police Officers from across the North West to discuss the role steel doors can play in crime reduction and security solutions. Working on behalf of the Police Service throughout the UK to deliver a wide range of crime prevention and demand reduction initiatives to design out crime, Secured by Design visited Strongdor for their knowledge and expertise of steel door security solutions for new build and refurbishment projects.
A new offshore wind turbine project comes to Norfolk

As part of their sustainability strategy, Constructionarium are in the process of decarbonising their site and projects, alongside launching new renewable projects. Friday saw the conclusion of one of their pilots – an offshore wind turbine project called “AngliaZero”.
Delegates construct a 7.7m high semi-submersible platform, mast, and turbine in a dry dock. After flooding the dock, the platform is towed into position to predefined co-ordinates. Once in the correct mooring location, the turbine is connected to land and commissioned into use. The output controls a domestic appliance in a “house” constructed as part of the project. The integrity of the system is checked and verified by a “Client” which draws the week’s learning to a conclusion.

York Handmade plays pivotal role in creating stunning new Yorkshire hall

The award-winning York Handmade Brick Company has played a pivotal role in the construction of one of the most striking and elegant new-build houses in Yorkshire.
York Handmade, based at Alne, near Easingwold, supplied 55,000 bricks and specials to build Mowbray Hall, near Thirsk, a luxurious and sophisticated family home, with panoramic views across the county.
The contract was worth £48,000.

LCB launches innovative commercial gas engineering apprenticeship

A new apprenticeship for Commercial Gas Engineering Operatives has officially launched at Leeds College of Building.
The apprenticeship is the first of its kind in Yorkshire, and the first time the College has offered a commercial rather than domestic pathway for gas engineers. The training is aimed at individuals employed by gas, heating, and ventilation firms who specialise in business services.

New research strengthens case against cutting corners on EV charging safety

New research on behalf of the Electrotechnical Skills Partnership (TESP) has confirmed that projected demand for electric vehicle charge points (EVCPs) can be readily accommodated by the UK’s workforce of fully qualified electricians.
