CISRS CPD courses go live

CISRS Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses are now live – making it a mandatory requirement to attend a two-day course at an approved training provider prior to scaffolder or advanced scaffolder card renewal.

The CPD course was formally announced in June 2016, giving the industry over 12 months notice prior to the commencement date. This was following lengthy discussions within the scaffolding sector and extensive correspondence with the HSE who pushed hard for what they felt was an omission to an otherwise very robust training scheme servicing a safety critical sector.

‘Constructive rewards’ for students at Chichester College

Students studying for qualifications in the construction sector have been presented with awards for their hard work during the Construction Prize Giving 2017 at Chichester College.

Three of the awards presented on the evening – Best Level 1 Carpenter, Best Level 3 Apprentice, and the Award for Brickwork – were sponsored by builders and timber merchants, Covers, which is based on Quarry Lane.

FPS calls for greater awareness of BIM to below ground construction

The Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) is calling for greater client understanding of the utility and benefits of BIM with respect to its application to below ground construction -specifically piling and substructure.

The move follows feedback from a recent survey it undertook looking at the impact of BIM on the piling and substructure industry, in which an overwhelming (81.82%) confirmed its beneficial impact, yet also found little call from clients for its application.
