CONSTRUCT Awards 2019: Winners Revealed

The winners of the CONSTRUCT Awards 2019 were announced at the glittering awards ceremony in conjunction with CONSTRUCT’s flagship event, CONSTRUCT Day. The event took place on Friday 4 October 2019, with an excellent turnout of over 500 industry guests in attendance.

Following the exhibition and networking in the morning, the awards commenced and were hosted by the hilarious comedian, Hal Cruttenden. Five winners were recognised for their outstanding achievements in the sector, from innovative new products and systems, to the hardworking, committed workforce that support the construction industry. The categories included; Projects over £2.5m, Projects under £2.5m, Health & Safety, Unsung Hero and Young Achiever.

ASFP releases programme for London seminar

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has now released the full programme for its CPD seminar in central London on 23 October 2019. The seminar, at the Aviva Building, 1 Undershaft, London EC3P 3DQ, aims to improve awareness of passive fire protection and help delegates to understand the vital role of compartmentation in maintaining fire safety in buildings.

The ASFP is pleased to announce that Peter Caplehorn, vice chairman of the Industry Response Group on Competence for Building a Safer Future, will offer a review of the Group’s proposals relating to competency in construction contained in its recently published report, Raising the Bar.

Altus Safety celebrates 3 years of success

Safety at height experts, Altus Safety, is celebrating the company’s third anniversary with figures that reveal the business is on track for a £2 million turnover by the end of this year, from a standing start in August 2016.

Established by directors Simon Mealor and Mark Weaver, who met while working at one of Altus Safety’s competitors, the company has completed more than 500 safety at height installations over the past three years. Concrete is the most widely used construction material in the world, with a wide range of regular uses. However, problems such as freeze thaw, spalling/cracking, carbonation, chemical attack and impact, amongst others, can all result in concrete damage.
