Build UK confirms support for CLOCS to improve road safety

Build UK has put its substantial weight behind the Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) Programme to reduce the number of incidents involving construction vehicles and vulnerable road users. Speaking in front of 185 senior industry figures at today’s CLOCS Conference & Exhibition at the ExCeL in London, Build UK Chief Executive Suzannah Nichol MBE set out how Build UK will be working with its members across the contracting supply chain to take the lead on the issue of road safety.

APS announces launch of ninth National CDM and Student Designer Awards

The Association for Project Safety (APS) has today announced the launch of its ninth National CDM and Student Designer Awards. The prestigious annual event will take place on Thursday 27 October at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London.

Historically part of the annual APS convention, for the first time this year, the National CDM and Student Awards will be a celebration in its own right, marking inspirational good practice within the Design and construction Health and Safety Risk Management sector.

Gus Robinson Developments secures £4.8m contract on Tyneside

Gus Robinson Developments Ltd will start work on a £4.8m scheme later this month in the heart of an ever-growing community.

Work originally started on Great Park, in Newcastle, back in 2001, and since then more than 1,500 homes have been built along with a new school, a state-of-the-art office complex and community sports facilities.

NASC member firms back National Apprentice Week Open Day event

CISRS training provider and NASC Members, Generation Training Services in partnership with fellow NASC member, Complete Access Scaffolding Ltd (CASL) are supporting National Apprentice Week (March 14-21), with an event aimed at promoting scaffolding apprenticeships and the construction industry as a safe and rewarding career option.

The Apprenticeship Open Day aimed at 15-21 year-olds in the Yorkshire region is being held at Castleford Tigers Rugby Ground, Wheldon Road on Saturday 19th March, 10am-3pm.

NASC 2016 Safety Report to be launched at Health & Safety show

The NASC is set to launch its 2016 Safety Report at the forthcoming ‘The Health & Safety Event’ industry event being held at the NEC, March 22-24.

The highly-regarded annual NASC Safety Report documents and analyses accident and injury statistics for all 199 NASC full contracting member companies in 2015 – covering 14,954 scaffolding operatives, which constitutes a major proportion of the UK’s total scaffolding workforce.

2016 UK Roofing Awards – finalists revealed

After receiving almost 300 entries this year, we are delighted to announce the finalists for the UK Roofing Awards in 2016. The competition ran from September until the end of January when a panel of technical experts from supporting trade associations whittled the entries down to just 56 projects across 14 categories. The winners are then chosen by a small panel of construction professionals.
