Multi million pound construction campus for Wolverhampton

The former Springfield Brewery site in Wolverhampton is set to become home to the new multi million pound, West Midlands Construction UTC (WMCUTC) for 14 to 19 year olds, the Construction Industry Training Board announced today.
The UTC (University Technical College) will open its doors in September 2015 at fully refurbished premises in the city. Subject to planning permission, it will then move to the new build on the former brewery site in 2016, where it will ultimately have places for 600 students from across the region.

Metal Technology products deliver BREEAM excellence in Aberdeen

Work has completed on a 40,000 sq ft bespoke Grade A office building at North Esplanade West, Aberdeen for North Sea operating company, GDF SUEZ E&P UK Ltd.
Designed by architects Halliday Fraser Munro and built by contractor Mansell, the building is one of the first in Aberdeen to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. The five storey, Grade A office accommodation offers capacity for up to 200 people providing the company with the required space to grow operations in support of its exploration and production projects.

XERVON Palmers system scaffolding in Aberthaw Power Station boiler

XERVON Palmers has converted to System Scaffolding for an efficient large-scale industrial access job – to facilitate the bi-annual overhaul of the interior of a huge boiler at Aberthaw Power Station, in South Wales.
Working closely with client Doosan Babcock and their customer RWE, up to 47 XERVON Palmers operatives have constructed a 25 x 13 metre, 19-lift Layher System Scaffold within the enormous coal-fired boiler at Aberthaw Power Station, located near Cardiff on the North bank of the Bristol channel.

NASC hosts UEG Delegation visit to United Kingdom

The NASC recently hosted a meeting of the Union of European Scaffolding Contractors (UEG) - the representative body for national scaffolding organisations in Europe - as part of its role as the UK access and scaffolding representative organisation in the UEG.
The NASC hosted 10 UEG delegates in London, including representatives from Germany, Switzerland, and Norway, at a meeting to discuss issues affecting the access and scaffolding industry across Europe. The NASC also hosted a visit by UEG delegates to the viewing platform of The Shard in the City of London, to showcase construction activity across the capital.
