UKATA’s new General Manager steps up to the plate!

After a period of outstanding performance as Acting General Manager, UKATA is delighted to announce the permanent appointment of Craig Evans to the newly-created role of General Manager, with immediate effect. Craig had already made a big impression as the Association’s Financial Controller, proving the business acumen and competence to deliver consistently good results.

UKATA now has big ambitions for the future, and Craig’s appointment is a true reflection of that. UKATA Chairman, Eddie Strong, said: “UKATA is a growing organisation; we now have over 160 members with more applications pending. UKATA is entering a new period of development and we felt that the time was right to appoint a General Manager to oversee our expanding operations. Craig has already proved himself as an ambitious young man who has the talent and business experience to fulfil this post; he is undoubtedly the right person to lead the Association into this exciting new era.”

UKATA is a leading provider of asbestos training, delivering cutting edge courses for contractors and professionals working with the lethal substance. For a contractor to hold a UKATA certificate means that they have passed stringent checks and operate to the highest standards of safety when working with asbestos. As General Manager Craig is thrilled at the prospect of overseeing the day to day operations of UKATA as well as expanding the membership base responsibly - as an ever increasing number of contractors and corporates apply to join UKATA.

“I have already been involved with UKATA for a number of years and I am very proud of what we have achieved so far. It is a real honour to be given the chance to lead such an exceptional team,” commented Craig.

UKATA has developed a reputation for the very highest standards in asbestos training, something that Craig is particularly keen to maintain as the Association grows: “Becoming a member of UKATA is no easy feat, we set the bar very high indeed and that is what makes bearing the UKATA ‘badge’ such an honour for our members. Growing the membership is definitely a goal but we will never compromise on standards in pursuit of that.”

Craig has definitely hit the ground running, as part of his drive to further expand the Association’s  membership base he took the team to the Health and Safety Expo 2014 in London last month which was a resounding success.

“The Health and Safety Expo was a fantastic step for UKATA,” explained Craig, “it was the Association’s first opportunity to exhibit at the event and we were inundated with enquiries as people wanted to find out more about asbestos training. It really confirmed what we had long suspected; that the need and demand is out there for asbestos training and UKATA is in an excellent position to deliver that.”

“Craig’s promotion is a real statement for UKATA,” added Eddie Strong. “He has some brilliant ideas and better still he is proving himself to be a man of action. His youth, energy and high standards have already made a big impact and the Board of Directors have every confidence that he will lead UKATA to a very bright future. With Craig at the helm, UKATA will continue to grow and provide outstanding training to more contractors, ultimately protecting more people from the dangers of asbestos.”
