Five contractors are in the hunt to build a new £45m regional training campus for Network Rail in Basingstoke.
The Enquirer understands that a shortlist has been drawn-up for the scheme consisting of Carillion, BAM, Kier, Morgan Sindall and Mace.
Construction will transform the six acre site near the town centre into a training campus teaching maintenance, engineering design, project management and signalling.
The site will also become Network Rail’s new regional headquarters housing up to 2,000 staff.
