CITB-ConstructionSkills Apprenticeships

altAn apprenticeship combines college learning with on-site experience to ensure apprentices get the right balance of technical skills and practical experience.

CITB are the largest provider of apprentices for the construction industry, with over 45 years’ experience of developing skilled workers.

Why take on an apprentice?

There has never been a better time, with 1 in 5 employers hiring more apprentices to help them through the current economic climate.

80% of employers say apprentices made their workplace more productive. You will be getting a keen, motivated member of staff that wants to learn and help your business to grow.

Training is developed in consultation with the industry so apprentices learn the right skills for the job.

Funding

They aim to make taking on an apprentice as easy as possible, with their training funded by a grant of up to £9,000 (available to eligible employers registered with CITB-ConstructionSkills).

Employers in England can also get £1,500 from the National Apprenticeship Service if they have not had an apprentice in the past three years.

The Apprenticeship Grant for Employers is available to help pay your apprentice's wages, in addition to any grants from CITB.

Support

You will get the best practical support to make the process simple and successful. CITB-ConstructionSkills will:
arrange training for your apprentice at a local college
pay all college and examination fees
help you complete the paperwork needed to claim grants
give advice on expenses available to cover lodgings or travel costs

Their Construction Work Experience Programme can help you see if an apprentice could be good for your business.
