The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) was pleased to play a key role in the first ever Tees Valley Business Summit. Sponsoring the welcome packs and running a successful stand, the organisation saw over 300 delegates attending the successful one-day event. The summit also heard a keynote speech by Employment Minister, Chris Grayling and featured 50 exhibitors, ten workshops and 16 one-to-one appointments with business advisors.
The Tees Valley Business Summit - an event created, driven and delivered by businesses across Tees Valley took place on Tuesday 10 July at Stockton-on-Tees in County Durham. Organised by the Local Enterprise Partnership, Tees Valley Unlimited, it aims to bring together public and private sector partners to deliver sustainable economic growth across Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton on Tees.
Don Atkinson the ECITB’s Regional Account Manager for the North East said, “The training programmes that the ECITB develop with the engineering construction industry are of vital importance to growth in the Tees Valley and the UK. There is a lot of future investment in the industry but there simply won’t be enough people to do the extra 40,000 jobs research shows will be required by 2020. We work with the construction industry to develop comprehensive training programmes and to encourage more individuals to take a look at a career in engineering construction. We’re not only working to support the industry and grow the economy but to help local people and organisations to reach their full potential and improve their prospects.”
Stephen Catchpole, Managing Director at Tees Valley Unlimited said, “We are delighted that ECITB were one of the sponsoring organisations for the Tees Valley Business Summit and look forward to working in partnership again. Events such as this are great for local businesses to meet, discuss, challenge and develop as well as providing essential networking opportunities with both peers and nationally recognised support providers.”
