Professional footballer starts training with OLCI

The next time you attend a practical workshop at OLCI, take a look around: you may be training alongside a professional footballer! One such player who knows the importance of getting a trade is midfi elder Simon Whaley. Simon has so far made 275 league appearances for teams such as Bury, Preston North End and Norwich, in a professional football career spanning eight seasons.

The opportunities that come with a trade

It makes sense for footballers to look into the opportunities available once they finish playing, so he’s enrolled on our Become a Fully Qualified Electrician course. Our flexible training courses suit Simon as he can fit them around his football training and gym work.

Simon recently attended his first OLCI practical electrical training workshop at our Manchester centre where he gained the fundamental skills he’d need to start training as an electrician.
