Bracknell Roofing takes care of Abundant Grace

Leading national building envelope specialist Bracknell Roofing has completed one of the largest tiled roofs in the South of England during the last 12 months.
The stunning roof of the 67-bedroom Abundant Grace residential nursing home in Seaford, East Sussex, now defines the building’s whole appearance.
Incorporating hips, gables and verandas as well as two complex octagonal garden rooms, the roofs required a number of teams from Bracknell Roofing working on site.
The shallow, octagonal hip roof on the courtyard orangery is separate to the main building and required a high level of technical competence. This involved fitting the battens, trimming the tiles and completed the multiple hips as well as the apex using modified ridges and a ridge cap mould.
An unusual feature of the development is a series of veranda roofs around the main building at first floor level, again completed by Bracknell Roofing. The veranda style is a feature found on some properties in the area and helps reduce the perceived height of the building, creating a less imposing structure.
A flat roof at the rear of the building, which houses the air conditioning units was recessed to avoid it detracting from overall sightlines. Having specialist flat roof teams, Bracknell Roofing offered main contractor Hilife Construction guidance on the best method of creating this, which had to be robust enough to provide ongoing access for service and maintenance.

The client on this project was South Coast Nursing Homes. Abundant Grace provides EMI (Elderly Mentally Infirm) Residential & Nursing care.
