Vinci Construction UK has been awarded a £27 million contract to develop a new Tesco distribution centre.
The firm will be erecting a 84,000 square metre facility in Reading and managing director the building division for the Midlands, south-west, Wales and retail Chris Pape said the project, once completed, would provide more than 1,000 jobs.
"We are absolutely delighted to continue our excellent relationship with Tesco Stores Ltd on this project," he stated.
The complex will be located on the site of a former Brewery and will provide maintenance, refuelling and washing facilities for vehicles.
It is also designed to be a relatively environmentally-friendly building, emitting 34 per cent less carbon dioxide than recommended in the 2010 building regulations.
The work will be carried out by Vinci's Retail and Interiors division and comes not long after the firm won a £46 million contract to build a large Tesco store in West Bromwich as well as 43 new shopping and leisure units.
Firms working in the construction sector may find Sage ERP EVision financial and contract management software can help projects run more smoothly.
