UK commercial law firm, Al Bawardi Critchlow, today launched a range of legal services specifically designed to enable smaller contractors and subcontractors in the construction sector to negotiate fairer contract terms with their larger employers. These services include free-of-charge, half-day workshops to educate subcontractors in the clauses commonly included in construction giants’ contracts, which could – if enforced – impact their cash flow, endanger their business operations, or even threaten their solvency.

250 workers protected during work on Bond Street station

Bull Products, a manufacturer of life-saving fire protection equipment, has won a contract to supply its prestigious alarm system during work on Bond Street tube station.
Bull’s Cygnus Wireless Alarm System replaced a previously installed system that couldn’t deliver what the contractors required for the project – a high-connectivity alarm system with a powerful radio frequency which was strong enough to work underground. The previous system took two minutes to send an alert to the panel from alarms situated underground at platform level. Once installed in place of the old system, the Cygnus System received an alert instantaneously when an alarm was raised.

ASFP launches passive fire protection training

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is launching a passive fire protection training programme in April 2018.
The Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection has been developed in response to demand from employers and contractors operating in the passive fire protection sector. The content of the training embeds current best practice and draws on the technical expertise provided by the ASFP.
