The importance of servicing & maintaining heater systems for welfare units

All construction sites are required to provide a suitable welfare unit by law - usually in the form of a temporary portable building. In fact, they are so important, their location on site and the regular maintenance schedule must be considered at the planning and preparation stages of every construction project before any construction work even commences. 

The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) states that, at a minimum, welfare units should provide construction workers with adequate toilet and washing facilities, a place to warm up and eat food or rest, and somewhere to store clothing.

1. The Building Safety Bill

The Building Safety Bill, currently making its way through Parliament, is set to change how certain buildings are constructed, maintained and made safe. It will include regulatory reforms on fire safety and quality of construction products and will introduce a developer levy. Virtually everyone involved in the design, construction and management of higher-risk buildings will be affected.

60 not out! David Armitage celebrates a lifetime in brick

David Armitage, the founder and chairman of the award-winning York Handmade Brick Company, is celebrating 60 unbroken years in the brick industry.

David joined the industry in 1961 as an apprentice fitter with his family firm George Armitage & Sons, based at Rothwell, near Wakefield. He moved into sales in 1963, eventually becoming Sales Director and later Marketing Director when the business boasted a £20m turnover.
