Solum – the weight is over, as innovative range is launched

Solum (Europe) Limited has introduced a range of innovative, aluminium temporary foundations and crane outrigger pads. The modular Solum units are available in a range of sizes, from 600 x 600mm, capable of spreading a 20t SWL to 600 x 1800mm which can be used in a 5-pad arrangement to spread a 100t SWL.

Vibration technology to safeguard buildings

Researchers at Nottingham Trent University have developed a technology that can detect cracks in buildings which cannot otherwise be seen to help avert emerging structural damage following catastrophic events.

Using the natural frequencies which occur when concrete vibrates, civil engineers at the University’s School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment have devised a way to calculate where unseen cracks appear in concrete to allow for speedier remedial action.
