Following the success of Hopkins Concrete apprentice, Sam Hughes, who has gained his Class One Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) licence, the Somerset Company is keen to encourage other would-be drivers to apply for the scheme. The South West concrete and aggregates business is dedicated to investing in the future of its workforce and champion the scheme as a great way of nurturing careers for local youngsters.

Innov8 secures Cheshire East Council framework agreement

Merseyside construction industry firm Innov8 is primed to deliver Principal Design Services for Cheshire East Council after securing the green light from authority chiefs.

The Birkenhead health and safety firm, which also has offices in Manchester, London and Edinburgh, has been appointed to the council’s framework for property-related consultancy services.

Scotframe create a safe space for vulnerable children and young adults

It was a particularly special birthday party that Bob Davis held for his 26-year-old daughter Emily in December 2015 - a brilliant disco evening in the new safe play space that he and his team at Scottish charity Play Alloa have just created.

It was special for a number of reasons: Emily has had severe learning difficulties and mobility issues since birth; and companies such as Scotframe, the UK’s leading full kit timber frame manufacturer, and many others have pulled together to build the new haven for her and children who face similar challenges.

New ONS data confirms Northern Powerhouse promise

In a bid to get Britain moving again, Chancellor George Osborne has established the National Infrastructure Commission.

Chaired by Lord Andrew Adonis, former Labour Transport Secretary, the independent body will assess the UK’s infrastructure needs to encourage growth across the whole of the UK, and minimise the notable gap between London and the rest of the UK.
