Award winning property professional to get University honour

An award-winning property professional who became the first woman to hold a top construction industry role will receive a prestigious University honour next week.

Louise Brooke-Smith is set to be awarded an honorary doctorate from Birmingham City University recognising her achievements across the land, property and construction sectors.

Hope celebrates third anniversary by revealing South East development plans

Construction projects across the South East of England will benefit from new operations being opened by leading British cement, concrete and aggregates supplier Hope Construction Materials.

On the anniversary of its third year in business, Hope has announced advanced plans to open new depots – and extend existing sites – in Dagenham, Southampton, Stratford (East London), Theale (Berkshire) and Woodham (Buckinghamshire).

NASC Apprentice of the Year 2016 winner presentation

NASC Apprentice of the Year 2016, Paul Howell has recently received his winner’s trophy and a cash prize of £500 during a presentation ceremony carried out at the West Yorkshire offices of his employer Complete Access (Scaffolding) Ltd (CASL).

The presentation was made by NASC Director of Training and CISRS Scheme Manager, Dave Mosley and Apprentice of the Year Scheme Judge and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Scaffolding Specialist Account Co-ordinator Diane Wood.

Build UK welcomes new trade association member

Build UK has further increased its representation of the contracting supply chain with the addition of a new Trade Association Member, the European Fencing Industry Association (EFIA), from January 2016.

Sustainable building design exemplifies city regeneration

In November, Eight Artillery Row was presented with the BDA Chairman’s Award at the 2015 Brick Awards.

Designed by Make Architects for clients Victoria Property Holdings and LBS Properties, this competition winning design proposed the refurbishment and extension of an existing 1980s office building in Victoria to provide twenty two private residential apartments over eight levels, plus ground floor retail space.
