Demo Expo 2017 –A free day out to the UK’s Biggest and Best Demolition Show!

The third edition of the joint National Federation of Demolition Contractors and Institute of Demolition Engineers event -Demo Expo - will be running this summer at a location close to the offices of the NFDC in Hertfordshire, at the Herts Showground.

This biennial event last ran in 2015 with over 50 exhibitors at the site of J Mould in Reading, where beautiful weather helped to secure a 4,000 strong crowd to the 2-day event. This year’s show has been extended to a 3-day event to include Trade Days on 22-23 June, plus a Family Day on Saturday 24th June.

CPA launches University Engagement Programme

The Corrosion Prevention Association, one of the associations that comprise the Structural Concrete Alliance, is piloting a University Engagement Programme at Coventry University. The scheme aims to raise awareness and understanding of corrosion issues in infrastructure and to encourage learning in the subject.

With over 50% UK construction work carried out in the repair, rehabilitation and upgrading of existing structures, or buildings, the Association hopes to create a link between employers and students and to ensure that students will have the available resources for the prevention of corrosion.

Saint-Gobain PAM UK revamps its website

Saint-Gobain PAM UK, the country’s premier supplier of ductile iron and cast iron products, has revamped its website. The new-look site at www.saint-gobain-pam.co.uk is now fully mobile-responsive, more user-friendly, and enables access to more downloadable information than ever before. Visitors to the site are now able to download e-catalogues, product drawings and datasheets. The revamp also aligns the site more closely with the Saint-Gobain group’s corporate identity.

Education providers secure cash boost to tackle construction skills shortages

A dynamic partnership of education providers has been awarded £400,000 to address skills gaps in the construction industry.

Gateshead College has joined forces with Northumbria University and Derby College to launch the BRIDGE Project, a research programme that will investigate why there are low numbers of women, people from disadvantaged backgrounds, ethnic minority groups, people with disabilities, mature and part-time students enrolling on construction-related degree courses.
