With the dramatic swing of trade towards data networking around the home as well as linear TV, the CAI has opened up a new category of membership.
Hopefully it covers off the new scope of works many installer members of the CAI now find themselves working. The assessment officers find themselves looking at more than DTT and satellite installations, with system installers stretching far beyond the IRS as we know it with the inclusion of broadband and IPTV on many large distribution systems.
The assessment team has provisionally defined and documented the criteria and competency scope a new applicant for the category would be expected to prove. Refinements to the competence checks will be made once a few assessment visits have been completed and the scope of works becomes more clearly defined.
Existing CAI members wishing to switch to the new category - which will follow the same subscription price banding as systems category - will be allowed to prove competence by submitting verifiable desktop evidence that supports an application to move across to the new category.
