APS unveils shortlist in National CDM and Student Designer Awards

The Association for Project Safety (APS) has today unveiled the shortlist of successful entries into its ninth National CDM and Student Designer Awards.

Following a record number of entries this year, the shortlist has been decided following an intense judging process by an expert panel of industry figure-heads, including the Health and Safety Executive, to decide which entries will go forwards to the awards dinner. The overall category winners will be revealed on the night.

AMI tracking technology leads police to stolen JCB 2CX worth £25,000

AMI Group’s tracking technology has led the Police to a stolen JCB 2CX Streetmaster Backhoe Loader worth around £25,000.

The high value machine was reported stolen this morning at around 10.30am from a site in Croft-on-Tees south of Darlington. Owned by one of the UK’s major plant hirers, the JCB 2CX had been fitted with an AMI Nexis GPS (Global Positioning System) tracking system and AMI’s monitoring station was able to utilise the company’s web-based Nexis software portal to establish that the JCB had been moved to a new location in Snipe Lane just off the A66 in Darlington, some six miles away.

Morganstone visits Bettws school to teach construction site safety

Children at a primary school in Bettws, Newport, have been learning about the dangers of construction sites thanks to the efforts of staff at award-winning Llanelli-based construction company Morganstone and local housing group Pobl. 

While accidents involving children entering construction sites are thankfully rare, accidents do happen in the UK every year. As such, Morganstone runs a continuous education programme at schools near its construction sites to make sure children understand the risks, stay away and stay safe.
