Construction Boost For London

The construction industry in London is set for a boost following the announcement of a four-year agreement between the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Sanctuary Group.

With support of nearly £15 million from the HCA, Sanctuary will invest £90 million in London, constructing 467 affordable homes and creating numerous job and training opportunities.

Construction apprenticeship scheme launched

hsA new apprenticeship initiative being piloted in London aims to address the decline in the number of apprentices entering the construction sector. CC Developments Ltd will offer under 25-year-olds the chance to undertake apprenticeships in the sector, eventually expanding the scheme nationally. It will provide up to 1000 apprenticeships within the first year, before being rolled out across the country in regional phases.

Funding boost to train women construction workers

CITB-CONSTRUCTIONSKILLS has this month secured funding to train up to 350 female construction workers across the UK, with women in Derbyshire now urged to apply for their share. The National Construction College (NCC), the training division of CITB-ConstructionSkills, has developed ‘Women and Work’ training courses which will run until the end of March 2012. Women in the East Midlands who wish to take the courses can apply now and find out whether they are eligible for funding.
