Held in the summer, the National Construction College (East) Apprenticeship Awards 2014 showcases the young talent the construction industry is developing year-on-year.
Dominating the Plant Mechanics – Access category, the latest generation of apprentices, Michael Grieve, Alex White and James Mulready have been praised after receiving commendations and achievement certificates. James, a Swansea based apprentice took the high honours in the category after joining the company in 2012 and embarking on both classroom and hands-on learning.
Nationwide Platforms has been running its apprenticeship scheme for more than 16 years, providing hundreds of opportunities to young people in engineering, many of whom have gone on to secure management positions within the organisation. The business has also introduced other apprentice roles based in training, HR, and finance as a means of providing new opportunities to employees in various departments.
Nationwide Platforms Regional Engineering Manager Bob Buono praised this year’s apprentices following their success: “Nationwide Platforms prides itself on the development of apprentices throughout all departments of the business. The three apprentices honoured in this category have all shown a fantastic enthusiasm for their training and development and are a great example of the calibre of trainees we have in the business.
“James, who was highly honoured in this category, has shown a good balance of both confidence and interest for the role as well as his day-to-day tasks. All three apprentices have great potential for the future and we look forward to developing them at Nationwide Platforms.”
