A new training course for would-be scaffolders is to be launched.
Astra Access Safety Training is offering unemployed people in the Yorkshire area the opportunity to build a future in the scaffolding industry.
The project will recruit trainees for a diploma level 1 scaffolding course which provides the skills and experience required to move on to an CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme) qualification after finding employment in the scaffolding and construction related industries.
The course is free for young people aged 16-18 not in education, employment or training and adults aged 19 and over who are in receipt of employment related benefits.
The course will run for 16 weeks at Astra's National Access Skills Academy in Darton
Trainees will take part in practical exercises in scaffolding, meet new people and be taught by industry experienced instructors, who will support students to gain the confidence they need to work in the scaffolding industry.
No previous qualifications or experience are required, but trainees are expected to show commitment to complete the course which starts at the end of February.
