Some certainty in the Brexit Chaos for FIS Members

On the day of the announcement that the vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister has cast further uncertainty on Brexit, FIS has produced for its members a Preparing for Brexit Checklist. The checklist focusses on the questions that members need to start asking across the Product, Process and People elements of their business (the three pillars of the FIS Quality in Construction Strategy). Whilst not exhaustive it aims to help members understand the impact of Brexit and look at potential risk, challenges and opportunities.

Iain McIlwee, FIS CEO says “We are constantly hearing businesses need to start preparing for Brexit. In fairness Government has started to draw information together but the complexity and volume of information is overwhelming to most small and medium sized businesses.

Former RECO site set to undergo development

Land between St. Johns Street and George Street, Huntingdon will shortly see enabling works commence for a new mixed-use development comprising flexible-use commercial units, as well as 304 dwellings that includes both houses and apartments.

It was announced back in June 2018 that planning permission had been granted, with local construction business Mick George Ltd contracted to complete Demolition, Remediation and Earthworks for a twelve-week period, on behalf of JCAM Commercial Real Estate.

Fusion21 announces renewal of national framework worth up to £90 million

Fusion21 has announced the renewal of its national painting, decorating & associated repairs framework - offering a potential combined worth of up to £90 million, over a four year period.

For the first time this framework will now offer sector split lots covering; Housing, Education, Health and the wider public sector. 

This framework offers painting, decorating and repairs services, including both internal and external works and associated works.

Works begin on new paper separation mill in Kings Lynn

Having gained approval from West Norfolk Council earlier this year, work will imminently get underway on a new paper separation plant in Kings Lynn, operated by Palm Paper Ltd.

Local construction specialist Mick George Ltd acting on behalf of Brooks and Wood Ltd will shortly commence Earthworks on the ‘back-up’ site that will be located to the north of Saddle Bow.
