Engineering solution brings waterfront back to life

Will Rudd Davidson (Edinburgh), consulting engineers, have completed complex engineering works at Dumbarton Harbour, to provide waterfront access for the first time in 150 years.  The site at the old quay on the River Leven has been brought back to life and will provide new homes for local residents to enjoy the views of the river and beyond.

The engineering team’s work on the quayside site of the former Ballantine Whisky Distillery involved significant and complex challenges, including removing old foundations and slipways from the site’s original use in the 18th and 19th centuries as a shipyard.  Upgrades to the quay walls and dry dock revetments were also undertaken.
