APS National Awards – setting a high industry standard for safe working

Outstanding work in construction design risk management was recognised and rewarded at a gala evening of fizz and fun when the ninth annual APS National Awards took place at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London.
The glamorous night, organised by The Association for Project Safety (APS) was underpinned by a serious message; that the work of the sector saves lives and helps ensure the on-going health of everyone working in construction.
TV journalist, Louise Minchin, hosted the evening and was there to hand out awards to the 10 national winners which also included the National Student Designer Awards.
Lesley McLeod, CEO of The Association for Project Safety, said: “The Association for Project Safety National Awards celebrate the best in health and safety risk management. They underpin the critical role the APS and its members play in improving the well-being of everyone who works in construction ensuring Britain's building professionals can work safely and without risk to their health.

Butler and Young Consultancy, sponsors of the Student Designer Awards were represented by Danny Coomber, Director Consultancy, Environment and Training. He said: “We sponsor the Student Designer Awards because we believe in innovation. There's a lot of skills and knowledge in the industry but we need new people and innovation for the future.”
As well as attending the award ceremony, all those on the shortlist spent the afternoon at an exclusive event at the House of Commons, where they met with MPs in the constituencies of their business, the projects or whose parliamentary duties are related to health and safety.
The APS National CDM Awards are now in their ninth year. They started in 2008 to recognise, reward and share outstanding good practice in the Design and Construction Health and Safety Risk Management sector.
