APS unveils shortlist in National CDM and Student Designer Awards

The Association for Project Safety (APS) has today unveiled the shortlist of successful entries into its ninth National CDM and Student Designer Awards.

Following a record number of entries this year, the shortlist has been decided following an intense judging process by an expert panel of industry figure-heads, including the Health and Safety Executive, to decide which entries will go forwards to the awards dinner. The overall category winners will be revealed on the night.

Commenting on the quality of entries into the awards, Richard Wilks, APS President, said: “The judges have certainly had a very difficult time deciding the winners of each of the nine different categories at this year’s National CDM and Student Designer Awards. So much so, we had to push the original shortlist announcement date back while the judges made their final decisions.

“We are delighted by the quality of each of the entries and are confident that those working in the Design and Construction Health and Safety Risk Management sector are producing excellent examples of good practice, helping ensure that construction workers return home safely each day.”

As well as going forwards to the awards ceremony, all shortlisted entries will now be invited to attend an exclusive event at the House of Commons in the afternoon before the awards ceremony in the evening.

Mr Wilks continued: “At APS we are committed to promoting good practice in the industry.  By inviting the shortlisted entries to the House of Commons event in the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to network with peers, share good practice, and discuss how Parliament supports the Health and Safety and Risk Management sector.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 27 October in London at The Radisson Blu Portman Hotel and tickets are now available to purchase to attend the prestigious event.

Mr Wilks concluded: “I would urge anyone who is working within the Design and Construction Health and Safety Risk Management sector to purchase a ticket and attend the awards ceremony – even if you haven’t entered or been successful in this year’s shortlist.

“It promises to be an enlightening evening. It’s a great opportunity to meet with industry colleagues, see what champions of good practice are doing and recognise that the winner of each category is providing a benchmark of excellence for us all to work towards, collaboratively raising standards and improving our sector.”

Tickets are available to purchase from the APS website. A single ticket costs £125 + VAT and a table of 10 costs £1,125 + VAT.
