Combisafe delivers highest safety standards

Combisafe continues to break ground in the growing German construction market by supplying 24 Safety Net Fans for the construction of TaunusTurm – a 170 metre high development in the heart of Frankfurt’s financial district. 

Designed by Gruber + Kleine-Kraneburg, the 40-storey concrete tower is being built by main contractor Ed. Züblin AG.  After protecting workers and pedestrians at Züblin’s recently completed headquarters building for European Central Bank, also in Frankfurt, Combisafe Safety Net Fans once again proved the ideal fall safety and high-rise protection solution.

As the road around the building remained open throughout the construction process, it was crucial that both workers and members of the public were protected from falling objects and debris.  With a cantilever scaffold also required around the top levels to ensure safe construction of the 40th floor – with double slab to slab height – the risk of falling objects/couplers was increased so Züblin utilised a combination of 4 x Safety Net Fans and 20 x Safety Net Fan Maxi’s.

Specifically designed to extend the catching width of the standard fan, the Safety Net Fan Maxi is 4.6m wide and comes with 60 x 60mm mesh and 20mm x 20mm debris net as standard. As the combined net is able to catch and contain considerably smaller particles of debris, the highest standards of protection are delivered for people working at height and at ground level.

Fixed to the edge of a structure, the Combisafe Safety Net Fan is an industry driven solution that has revolutionised the standard of safety across the construction sector.

With a slab thickness of just 15cm, drilling holes into the slab was not possible at the project. Available in two different lengths, 750 and 900mm, the offset beams removed the need to drill fixing holes whilst ensuring the Safety Net Fans could be easily attached to existing anchor points inside the building and away from the slab edge.
