Organisers of Timber Expo today announced the 2013 exhibition was the most successful in the event's three year history.
Event Director, Loretta Sales said: "Moving Timber Expo to the NEC proved to be a sound decision, with a total 4,611 visitors attending the exhibition - a 9% increase on 2012! There was a real buzz around the event, with a definite increase in international visitors, some travelling as far afield as Bolivia, Nigeria and Malaysia. This is not purely a numbers game and attracting the right sort of visitor is crucial, so we are delighted to report an increase in architects, engineers, specifiers and contractors - many with live projects."
Another feature of the event hailed a success was the Timber Expo Buyers & Specifiers Forum.
Clive Mavir, Senior Materials Buyer at Sir Robert McAlpine and Dave Swarbrick, Head of Model & Specification for Asda Stores both said the Forum was "excellent" and the feedback from both buyers and exhibitors was so positive that next year Timber Expo will have to make the Forum area larger to accommodate demand.
On behalf of TRADA, Rupert Scott said: "The new Timber Talks format went down well with visitors and the chairmen have all reported lively and engaging Q&A sessions because the Talks had great content and were delivered by people who knew their subject well."
"The real test of an event's success are the re-bookings and 58% of exhibitors signed contracts at the show for the 2014 exhibition, when we will be co-locating with W14 at the NEC on 07 & 08 October. In addition, a further 12 new companies, who visited the show, have reserved space and are due to be contracted next month," added Loretta Sales.
W14 is the UK event for the joinery and furniture manufacturing industries offering a natural synergy with Timber Expo. This move has been welcomed by the many visitors who would like to see both shows in a single visit.
