INFRARAIL TO INCLUDE NEW MACHINERY DISPLAY

trainA new exhibition area dedicated to plant and machinery for rail construction and maintenance is to be unveiled at Infrarail 2012. The event, at the NEC in Birmingham from 1 to 3 May 2012, will feature companies supplying track construction and maintenance, signalling and communications, electrification and railway civil engineering.

The new display area, dubbed ‘The Yard’, will be staged in collaboration with the Rail Plant Association and with the endorsement of Network Rail.

Infrarail will include free drop-in seminars, ‘Meet the Buyer’ sessions and a networking reception on the opening day.

Next year’s event will be the ninth overall. The last Infrarail show in 2010 saw a five per cent increase in visitor numbers to more than 4,500, and a rise of 17 per cent in exhibitors to 239.

Heidi Cotsworth has been appointed exhibition manager for Mack Brooks’ two UK rail shows Infrarail and Railtex. She succeeds Michael Wilton, who has been promoted to exhibition director to take overall responsibility for a group of Mack Brooks events that includes both Infrarail and Railtex.

“I am looking forward to this new challenge and to meeting all those people in the rail industry that contribute to the great success of Infrarail and Railtex,” said Cotsworth.
