Security beefed up; construction continues
The district administration heaved a huge sigh of relief as Friday witnessed no untoward incident at the ‘disputed’ construction site at Nagri. Construction continued peacefully, thanks to the beefed-up security.
After a tumultuous Thursday morning — that saw the act of breaching the under-construction wall of the proposed law university and filing of five named and 100 unnamed FIRs against the agitating villagers — security was tightened on Friday.
A 50-member team of the Rapid Action Police (RAP-3) comprising 10 male havildars and 40 women havildars, kept tight vigil. “We are patrolling the area since Thursday and we have not seen any villager walking to the site,” one of the RAP-3 security personnel said.
“After Thursday’s incident and the high court’s order, saying come what may, construction must continue, we have beefed up security to keep agitating villagers at bay. Apart from the regular security, a magistrate has also been deployed at the site. The security is here to stay,” said Ranchi SDO Ameet Kumar.
According to one RAP-4 security personnel, Balram Paswan, construction continued since morning sans hassle. “We are keeping tight surveillance,” Paswan added. The breach in the wall was also repaired.
