North-east framework worth between £90m and £1bn starts procurement
Contractors are being sought for a new four-year North-east framework valued at between £90 million and £1 billion to replace the abandoned North East Improvement and Efficiency Partnership.
The North East Procurement Organisation is seeking six contractors for four lots under its new framework for building construction works.
NEPO had to restart the procurement process after it abandoned the North East Improvement and Efficiency Partnership framework earlier this year.
In a statement to CN in October, NEPO director Ian Taylor said that he was “disappointed that the process had to be abandoned after a lot of work by everyone involved”.
Contractors who had tendered for the previous framework were informed in July that it was to be ripped up, and that a new procurement process would start imminently.
The new framework will include design and construct projects, and construct-only schemes including refurbishment or remodelling of existing properties owned and / or used by the framework users and new build projects.
The framework will be made available to all NEPO members. A list of member organisations is available at www.nepoportal.org.
The following contracting authorities have already committed on a non-contractually binding basis:

Gateshead Council,
Hartlepool Borough Council,

It is anticipated that six contractors will be appointed to one or more lots.
