Construction site security guard attacked, robbed
KUCHING: A construction site security guard lodged a police report Monday night after he was punched in the face and robbed of his necklace.
The 30-something victim told police the incident happened around 9.15pm when six unknown persons showed up at his workplace at Jalan Sungai Periuk, carrying weapons ranging from a stick to an iron rod.
He said when he emerged from the guardhouse to question the group, one of them punched his face and grabbed his RM700 silver necklace before fleeing with the other men.
Minutes later, a second incident along the same road saw a 20-year-old youth assaulted for reasons unknown by a group of between seven and eight men.
The incident happened around 9.30pm when the youth and a friend were stopped by the group while riding their motorcycle along the road.
While the friend managed to escape, the youth ended being assaulted with motorcycle helmets by the group, who themselves fled when members of the public came to the victim’s aid.
The youth, who suffered cuts and bruises following the assault, claimed he did not know his attackers or their motive. Police are investigating both cases
