Bouygues clinches £35m Queen Victoria St contract

Bouygues was appointed by private investors QV Unit Trust who have received funding from the owners of the building, Investec Bank.

The project includes a new façade to Queen Victoria Street and a new 8th floor, with a roof terrace overlooking St Pauls Cathedral. The expansion will create a 200,000 sq ft building which is set for completion in December 2013.

According to construction data analysts Glenigan, Bouygues was pitted against Balfour Beatty and ISG on the contract.

Planning was approved in March for external alterations to the building to install new windows and stonework and to improve the existing stone façade. Demolition of a link bridge connecting 71 and 77 Queen Victoria Street was approved the same month.

Approval was granted in April for demolition of the existing top floor and its replacement with a storey of office accommodation. Remodelling of the building’s primary elevations was also given the green light on Queen Victoria Street, Great Trinity Lane and part of Little Trinity Lane, while external alterations have been approved on secondary elevations on Upper Thames Street, Garlic Hill and part of Little Trinity Lane.
