Morganstone visits Bettws school to teach construction site safety

Children at a primary school in Bettws, Newport, have been learning about the dangers of construction sites thanks to the efforts of staff at award-winning Llanelli-based construction company Morganstone and local housing group Pobl. 

While accidents involving children entering construction sites are thankfully rare, accidents do happen in the UK every year. As such, Morganstone runs a continuous education programme at schools near its construction sites to make sure children understand the risks, stay away and stay safe.

Praise for The Survey School’s prize-winning 2016 graduates

The highest achievers on the TSA Surveying Course were commended for their diligence and professionalism by tutors and industry professionals at The Survey School’s annual graduation day ceremony. 

This year’s presentation took place at Worcester Racecourse and included an additional award to recognise the attainment of two outstanding students, separated by just 1 per cent in their results.

CISRS set up specific CPD 2017 web page in response to misinformation

There has been quite a reaction on social media since it was announced that CPD courses for Scaffolders will be introduced from summer 2017. CISRS has now set up specific CPD page on it’s website in a response to some of misinformation being circulated around the sector.

The aim of the webpage is to provide background information surrounding the introduction of the new scheme, why CISRS has concluded that CPD is necessary, proposed course content whilst also answering some of the questions that have been raised by concerned scaffolders and employers. The Industry has had a mixed response to the announcement however there are many across the wider industry who have welcomed the idea.

Kubota ‘Gold Digger’ raises £26,000 at the Lighthouse Club Summer Ball

Kubota UK, the market-leading supplier of high performance compact construction machinery, has raised £26,000 auctioning off its special edition ‘Gold Digger’ at construction industry charity The Lighthouse Club’s 60th anniversary Summer Ball.

Following the significant milestone of Kubota selling its 50,000th excavator in the UK and Ireland this year, the manufacturer produced a special edition gold Kubota KX-71 mini excavator, which it donated to the charity to be auctioned at the event to raise much needed funds. The successful bid was made by Anglia Crane and Plant Hire.
