Selco, the highly respected trade only builder’s merchants with branches throughout England and Wales, has purchased an individually designed Wash Rack cleaning system from the construction equipment manufacturer, Tower Light UK. The unit has been installed at the Selco Hire branches in Hanworth and Nottingham.
The Wash Rack is a self contained washing system designed to thoroughly clean a line of plant and machinery whilst protecting the wider environment from contaminates commonly found on construction equipment. It is swiftly installed on site or in a depot and can be made ready for use in just a few hours.
Chris Lyons, Operations Director at Selco advised, “We chose the Wash Rack from Towerlight due to its versatility and portability and the fact that it uses recycled water. We also worked closely with Towerlight to produce a be-spoke unit that better fits our requirements. The Towerlight system was recommended to Selco from other users.”
The Selco Wash Rack is a modified version of a standard product, with larger dimensions and a great weight capacity, meaning that a wider range of machines can be cleaned.
The Wash Rack features a low angle approach ramp which allows even low profile equipment being swiftly located onto the wash pad. The wash pad has a diamond patterned tread, with grit impregnated surface for to ensure excellent traction, with no undulations or any other trip or slip hazards. As the Wash Rack operates from recycled water and therefore alleviates the need to apply for a discharge licence.
The Wash Rack has separation tanks that securely isolates diesel, petrol, oils, grease and other chemicals, making these hazardous contaminates ready for proper disposal. This process helps to secure the safe disposal of all environmentally risky material. The complete unit can be installed above ground as a semi-permanent installation.
Paul Hay, from TowerLight (UK), explained, “The Wash Rack was developed for the rental industry who are having to comply with increasing environmental and health and safety legislation especially related towards the cleaning of plant and the drainage of dirty water. Currently, the only option they have is to install a permanent tank, which invariably involves some sort of ground excavation. We believe that the Wash Rack is a more cost effective way to overcome the problems that our customers face when cleaning plant and we are very pleased that Selco have recognised the features and benefits of the Wash Rack system,” added Paul.
