Nottingham council homes get the go ahead

Plans for 31 brand new council homes were approved yesterday by Nottingham City Council’s Planning Committee.

The homes on Cranwell Road in Strelley will be built on the site currently occupied by the crosswall flats. 

Demolition of the flats, which is being carried out by Nottingham company, Total Reclaims, will begin in June.

RICS respond to Government's funding for homes pledge

In response to Housing Minister Kris Hopkins’ pledge to provide funding for more affordable homes across the UK Jeremy Blackburn, RICS UK Head of Policy, has said:

“Anything that boosts the number of new homes across the country can only be a good thing for the market and the wider economy. On this basis, today’s announcement is, most definitely, a step in the right direction. It is encouraging that, under this scheme, housing associations will be able to specifically select the types of housing needed in their area.

Countryside Annington (Mill Hill) Ltd, a joint venture between Countryside Properties and Annington Homes is pleased to announce that house building has commenced on-site at ‘The Mount’ at Millbrook Park in Mill Hill, NW7. Land purchase for 5,500 homes to create new town near Plymouth

Plans for a new market town near Plymouth have taken a major step forward following the formation of a group of housebuilders and the formal consolidation of the land into that consortium.

Planning permission was granted in November for the new 5,500-home Sherford community five miles to the east of Plymouth city centre, and the consortium has now taken control of the 1,200-acre site.

New £1.7million affordable homes scheme completes in Bellingham

Two Castles Housing Association has welcomed residents into their new homes after work completed on a £1.7 million affordable homes scheme for local people in Bellingham, Northumberland.

Surge in builders reviewing customer feedback

Over a quarter of homes completed by British housebuilders now have homeowner’s feedback reviewed by the builder via a valuable online customer satisfaction report, according to new figures released by NHBC.

Following targeted efforts by the industry to drive up standards, the number of builders using NHBC’s unrivalled customer satisfaction reports has doubled in the space of just one year.

The UK’s leading housebuilder, Persimmon Homes, is launching a recruitment drive to find tradespeople across its 24 businesses as it gears up to build more homes across the UK.

The housebuilder is looking for subcontractors, labour only subcontractors and direct employees to help the business meet demand from home buyers.
