CHAS and Story Homes recognised in 2023 Excellence Awards

Verdantix EHS EMEA Awards Badge FinalistCHAS, the risk management expert, has been recognised in the prestigious Verdantix EHS Innovation Excellence Awards EMEA, which acknowledges organisations instrumental in implementing innovative technologies and projects that improve environment, health and safety processes and outcomes.

CHAS, a Veriforce company, is the supporting technology provider to housebuilder Story Homes who has been short-listed in the Operational Risk Management category. CHAS completed a six-month project with Story Homes in 2022 to create a new, integrated supply chain management system which transformed how the housebuilder manages health and safety risk within the business; at the end of the campaign, over 97% of Story Homes’ supply chain had achieved the targeted compliance levels.

What’s more, the number of contractors who achieved a higher level of accreditation, requiring them to demonstrate specific environmental management practices, increased by 69%, with nearly 60% of Story Homes’ existing supply chain meeting this threshold. This was a core aspiration of Story Homes to help drive continual improvement of its SHEQ performance.

Paul Drysdale, SHEQ Director, Story Homes, explains: “Working with CHAS has significantly reduced the administrative burden for our team and provides confidence for all our business stakeholders, especially our site managers, that the contractors we work with have demonstrated their commitment to health and safety. This minimises the risk to our business and contributes to a culture that results in reduced incident rates and accidents.”

Ian McKinnon, Managing Director, CHAS, adds: “We are delighted to congratulate Story Homes on being selected as a finalist for a Verdantix EHS Innovation Excellence Award. CHAS is proud of our supporting role in helping Story Homes achieve its core ESG objectives, as well as being recognised for our exceptional operational excellence and reputation for simplifying health and safety prequalification and raising standards of risk management.”

Reflecting the status of the awards, previous Verdantix Innovation Award winners include Unilever, Anglian Water, Volvo Cars, EDF Energy and many other significant multi-national organisations. Winners will be announced at the Verdantix EHS Summit, taking place in London, 6th–7th June 2023.
