Winners shortlisted once again for Sustainability and Resource Awards

The annual Sustainability and Resource Awards held by the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) is firmly in sight, with the ceremony set to take place in early November at the Grosvenor Square Marriot hotel, London.

These long-standing and well-respected awards are given for outstanding achievement in the sustainability, resource and waste industry, judged by experts in the sector.

An eagerly awaited event for all within the sector, especially for those who have been included on the shortlist for one of the prestigious awards, which were subsequently announced this week. One company that has managed to make the grade once again, is our very own Mick George Ltd, who has for the second consecutive year been included.

This time last year, Mick George Ltd topped the table, scooping the Catalyst Corporate Finance ‘Fast 50’ award as a new entry. This particular award recognises the fastest growing businesses within the UK’s waste and resources industry, and thus it’s a fantastic achievement to be in the mix in successive years.

‘Mark Wilson, partner at Catalyst Corporate Finance said: ‘’I am always very impressed by the level of growth achieved by private companies within the industry. We review almost 1,000 businesses each year, and this year’s growth is on par with the heights of 2015.’’

Wilson Continued: ‘’Mick George Ltd achieved top position because of sustained performance across several years. The business has an impressive track record of investment and staff development that has allowed it to expand its regional footprint and service offering.’’

Mick George Ltd has lead the independent waste management sector for over 35 years. Their broad range of services covers every aspect of collection, recycling and disposal of waste generated by industrial, commercial and residential sectors.

With a unique network of transfer stations, landfill sites and state-of-the-art recycling facilities, it enables the company to deliver a fully compliant and accredited, tailored waste solution, meeting the highest environmental standards and best working practices. Mick George Ltd provide a fully verifiable 100% landfill diversion for all waste, returning it to industry and agriculture either as new materials or as sustainable energy.

Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’It was a tremendous achievement to receive this award in 2016 and we’re very proud to be included again this time around. It is testament to the hard work and efforts that are being made on a daily basis by everyone involved.

Stump Continued: ‘’Many of the those who are considered the industries elite haven’t made the shortlist, which in itself emphasises what a great achievement this is.‘’
